M&C Saatchi will be hoping the phone doesn’t ring
There is a famous ad agency saying coined by BBH co-founder Nigel Bogle that “we’re only three calls from disaster“.
Yesterday saw M&C Saatchi confirm that it had lost long term banking client ANZ.
Today sees AdNews report that M&C Saatchi client Optus is preparing an account review.
It’s amazing the difference a couple of days can make.
At the end of the year, M&C Saatchi was the agency to be feared on any pitch list with a series of wins including David Jones.
I suspect that M&C will be hoping the phone is quiet for the next few days.
you can only image what would happen if they did loose optus
M&C is a fine agency. It has done a great job for Optus.
“you can only image what would happen if they did loose optus”
Yes you can. Better ads. Less animals.
ANZ Bank – gone
Optus – reviewing
Woolworths – next to announce review
What next, M&C Saatchi merge with Saatchi & Saatchi?
m&c have been doing some great work for optus and for many years now. could it be that they may have another account up their sleeve or on ice and optus sense this?
@Logic
You mean “fewer animals”
this is true, version.
ideally – no animals
You think it is just M&C that likes the animals? Clients have as much buy in and the reason the animals have stayed is because the clients think they work.
And why are we reporting on a review? Accounts are up for review every couple of years, we all know that is how it goes. You would have known that months ago, however because they lost ANZ it makes more dramatic news.
I think they’ve done great work on both ANZ and Optus. I feel for the staff, who have obviously worked hard on both accounts.
Whole digital arm would be almost wiped clean if they lost Optus.
