Inside Out 2 was responsible for 60% of the total box office in the country this weekend, and enjoyed the highest-grossing opening weekend for an animation ever globally – at $295 million.
In Australia, it was the third best Pixar opening weekend ever, the fourth highest Walt Disney Animation Studios/PIXAR opening weekend of all time, and the eighth-highest animated opening weekend ever.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die took in $2.46 million in its second week of release, bringing its cumulative box office to just over $8 million.
The Garfield Movie brought in $825,000 in its third week, bringing it to $7.34 million, while Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga brought in $539,000 in its fourth week of release, to edge its total taking over $9.2 million.
IF took $328,000 in its fifth week, bringing its Aussie total to $8.61 million.
Despicable Me 4 will be looking to take some of that animation dollar when it releases this coming weekend, along with 42nd Street, The Musical.
