Nine’s growth director Helena O’Dowd exits in marketing shake-up

Nine director of growth and retention Helena O’Dowd has become the latest marketing leader affected by Australia’s ongoing redundancy wave, as the broadcaster cuts roughly 50 roles across its streaming and broadcast division.

O’Dowd, who has been with Nine for six years, will leave at the end of the year following consultations with the network’s leadership regarding a restructure of the marketing function.

In an internal email seen by Mumbrella, 9Network and 9Now executive director Hamish Turner said O’Dowd was offered a newly created role as director of Group Activations, which would have sat within the Streaming and Broadcast Strategy team rather than marketing, but she declined.
