REA Group names Tracey Fellows as new CEO

Former president of Microsoft Asia Pacific Tracey Fellows has been named as the new CEO of REA Group this morning, filling the role left vacant when Greg Ellis handed in his notice last December.
Fellows, who spent two years at Microsoft, has been general manager of communications services for Australia Post for the last 18-months as that business looks to transition itself to the digital age.
REA Group chairman Hamish McLennan said in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange this morning: “We believe that Tracey is the perfect for for the company and we look forward to seeing her apply her leadership experience as we navigate through the next evolution of our business.”News Corp owns a 70 per cent interest in REA Group, which is Australia’s biggest online property finding site.
Ah…. this is a good move for Tracey, and she will be a great leader for REA. REA is the largest pure play digital business in AU (outside of google). Congrats to her!

REA’s needs to innovate not regress
Has anyone been on REA of recent? Just looking at the search results you can see the good old, old skool tactic in motion: “if it moves, sell it and if it doesn’t move; sell it”. Everything is an advert and the UX is utter tripe.
It will be interesting to see how REA Group is stood in 5-10 years time. I predict a far leaner model trouncing it ux v greed.
