Socceroo Harry Kewell fronts new Solo ad
Socceroo Harry Kewell fronts a new campaign for soft drink Solo to promote the return of crushed can football to the streets.
The nostalgic campaign – which begins today – has been created by BMF. Featuring the evolution of can football from Solo’s birth in 1973 to the present, it will be supplemented by sponsorship of Fox Sports’ A League coverage with a Solo Goal Of the Week. The campaign also features press, outdoor and online along with a consumer promotion around the Socceroos’ 2010 World Cup campaign.
Media agency Carat and Melbourne PR agency Wrights are also involved in the campaign for the Schweppes Australia brand.

Wow, an entire 3-second appearance by the great Kewell. Yawn.
Nicely crafted piece of work but strangely features only anglo aussies playing with the can. Surely a few “ethnic euros’ would have added to the credibility and made the ad stronger. Agree with Frank HK is yesterdays man.
The most exciting part for me was when the car ran over the can. Where was HK? With about 10 seconds left, I lost interest and stopped watching. Was he even in the ad?
That’s the longest Kewell has appeared without picking up an injury in at least a decade
I heard he got a stress fracture from kicking the can, and is out for the next 6 weeks.
i dunno…i just really like it. it’s kind of familiar yet different from anything i’m seeing at the moment. reminds me of when i was a kid. the track is great & love the flares. it doesn’t need harry…i just like that solo isn’t taking the piss anymore. there’s enough brands..beer whatever trying to do that self effacing bloke thing. now that is boring.
i think its a great ad starring the great harry kewell. whats wrong frank warring and gezza? jealous of the talented and good looking harry kewell?!!
too right jay m,peter zerhut and andrew p must be soooo jealous too.they are probably buck toothed gimps with no life. solo ad is cool and harry kewell rocks!!!!!!!!!
i really like the advertisement, harry kewell is the best player you have for Australia, god i wish he was turkish.
Hi Sheila,
I believe I know Pete Zerhut’s real life identity, and I can confirm the accuracy of your views on his looks and personality.
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
Hi Sheila,
I can promise you I am not buck toothed. I’ve got a $20k dentist bill from 2 months ago to prove it. Jealous? maybe… OK YES!!!!
I was just trying to be funny, but obviously instead I have offended so I do apologies. To be honest, I think HK is awesome!!! Sometimes it take a good kick up the bum from people like you for me to see that Im not as funny as I think I am lol xxx
I’ve just got back from the dentist, having had my teeth whitened and straightened following the above stinging rebuke
Who sang the damn song? I’m positive that it’s Mungo Jerry. Can anybody help?
Ta
Yeah, good ad. The song is Alright, Aright by Mungo Jerry
