‘This report will not sit in isolation’: Nine sets deadline for release of workplace investigation findings

Nine Entertainment has set a deadline for the release of a report looking into its workplace and culture, sparked by claims of misconduct against senior executives at the company.

Following allegations made against former Nine news boss Darren Wick in June, two more managers were accused of “predatory behaviour” just weeks later by a former female staffer who left in 2022.

Shortly after, CEO Mike Sneesby announced that Nine would conduct an internal review – including launching a dedicated hotline to report sexual harassment and an organisation-wide survey –  while an external investigation would be carried out by workplace culture firm, Intersection.

In an email to staff on Wednesday, Nine’s chief people officer, Vanessa Morley, advised that the media giant expects to be able to share Intersection’s findings “by the end of October”.

“The report will provide us with a systemic view of our workplace culture, risks and recommendations for change. Importantly, this report will not sit in isolation,” the email reads.

“We will use the findings and recommendations alongside our prior cultural reviews and surveys, to inform evolving the culture we are driving at Nine. We want Nine to be a workplace where everyone feels safe, respected, and included – and this is the responsibility of us all, irrespective of brand, department, role or seniority.”

It was originally hoped that the findings would be released by the end of July.

It comes after Sneesby addressed the review during an investors call late last month following the release of Nine’s latest financials.

“We take these comments and the feedback from our team members incredibly seriously and have worked with industry leading third parties to understand the extent of any issues and similarly to ensure our processes and culture encourage an inclusive and positive working environment,” Sneesby said.

“We have committed to sharing the outcomes of these reports with our people when they’re available.”
