Toyota the key to Saatchi & Saatchi’s first local acquisition of Mercer Bell agency
For the first time since the brand entered the Australian advertising industry, Saatchi & Saatchi has opened the chequebook to acquire a 100% stake in customer experience agency Mercer Bell.
Saatchi announced the deal today in what appears to be an attempt to lock down the Toyota business nationally. It also signals the intent of parent company Publicis to prevent its business from being eroded by the rise of specialist providers in areas such as customer experience and research.
Toyota uses Saatchi as its lead agency and also works closely with Mercer Bell on CX and CRM.
It is understood that the car manufacturer played an important role in bringing the two agencies together.
No quote from Toyota Management on their thoughts about consolidation of their advertising interests?
Another idiotic comment from someone who doesn’t have the intellect to either type their own name, or work out that TMCA would have been consulted & across this for a while. For the record TMCA don’t comment about their business arrangements.
Take that, @PressGallery dufus.
So they buy an agency to retain a piece of business. Wonder how the Founders of Mercer Bell feel about that, beyond richer. Lets face it Mercer Bell are a DM agency who have rebadged to suit the market, beyond me why Saatchi’s could not develop this talent internally, given it’s essentially DM.
That’s a very good question.
If DM is so ‘easy’ you must be brilliant at it.
Why not show us your outstanding portfolio.
Regale us with knowledge, but I’d bet there isn’t any….
