TV likely out for weeks after regional Victoria transmitter fire

Large parts of regional Victoria are likely to be without free-to-air TV for weeks, after a grass fire damaged two transmission sites on Mount Alexander that service over 350,000 households on Friday night.

Over the weekend, residents in Bendigo and surrounding areas woke up to discover all free-to-air TV stations, and the majority of radio stations — including Triple M, Hit 91.9, and ABC Local Radio — were off air.

Just three community radio stations remained, including the official emergency broadcast station for the region, KLFM, which transmits from nearby Mt Herbert.
