‘We are excited about the future’: Invictus Australia and Optus enter multi-year partnership
Optus and Invictus Australia have entered into a crucial multi-year partnership expected to uplift veterans and their families.
The partnership is expected to raise awareness of Australian women and men who have served in the armed forces.
It emphasises Optus’ dedication to providing veterans with employment opportunities, while exemplifying the values of connection, inclusion, community and veteran support through sport.
In its 2024 Sustainability Report, the telecommunications company unpacked its work with veterans. Not only does the organisation boast an employee network – the United network – specifically for those who served, but in FY24, it officially opened a memorial garden, continued to uphold its Gold partner status with Soldier On – a support organisation for former and existing defence personnel – and more.
“Optus is proud to partner with Invictus Australia to champion veterans and their families,” Optus’ vice president of people and culture, Kate Aitken, said.
“We understand the unique value and perspective veterans can bring to the workforce. They bring technical skills that critical infrastructure like telecommunications requires, as well as skills such as leadership, working well under pressure and in a team environment.”
Aitken added: “We’re proud to create a workplace that values the contribution of veterans and helps them thrive. We conduct a diversity and inclusion census where three per cent of the team said they have been in the defence force or are the spouse or dependent of those who have.
“We’re delighted to support Invictus Australia to empower veterans at Optus and in the broader community while inspiring all Australians.”
“We are excited about the future, having recently redesigned our partnership model to provide more opportunities for brands to impact veteran lives and create unique storytelling opportunities to share with the Australian population,” contributed Invictus Australia’s director of strategic partnerships and brand, Vanessa Bernardo.
“This partnership with Optus is a wonderful chance to bring this to life. It will change and save lives, both on the international stage with the Invictus & Warrior Games, and in local communities.
“We are delighted for Optus to join the local Invictus family and together we will ensure that veterans and their families feel supported, valued, and connected.”
