‘We couldn’t be more excited’: Vistar Media announces new head of retail media

Sean Cheyney
Out-of-home (OOH) media technology company, Vistar Media, has appointed Sean Cheyney to serve as its head of retail media globally.
In his fresh gig, Cheyney – the former executive vice president for global retailer sales at retail media platform, CitrusAd – is expected to spearhead the organisation’s retail media strategy, helping to deploy Vistar’s OOH solutions into the retail media landscape for the betterment of brands, retailers and agency partners.
Cheyney’s role will be crucial in facilitating the company’s strategy for 2025 – a plan focusing on international expansion and the establishment of Vistar Media as the leading partner for digital OOH offerings for the globe’s retail media ecosystems.
“I’m excited to join Vistar at a time when retail media is on the cusp of transforming how brands reach consumers in the real world,” Cheyney said.
“By leveraging Vistar’s powerful programmatic solutions, we can help retailers unlock new revenue streams while giving brands more ways to connect with shoppers along their entire journey.”
The company’s managing director for APAC, Ben Baker, expressed his excitement at Cheyney’s appointment, saying that he will be fundamental in Vistar’s operations.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Sean Cheyney join Vistar Media at a time when retail media is set for substantial growth,” Baker said.
“With Morgan Stanley forecasting retail media spending in Australia to rise from $1 billion in 2022 to $2.8 billion by 2027, Sean’s expertise will be crucial in helping us integrate digital out-of-home with retail media platforms.
“As retail media becomes an increasingly vital channel for brands, his vast experience will assist us in creating innovative solutions that drive value for retailers and brands alike. Australia, in particular, has fully embraced retail media, and we are confident this momentum will only continue as we look toward the future.”
“Retail media networks are transforming the advertising landscape, offering new opportunities for brands to connect with consumers beyond traditional digital channels,” Vistar Media’s senior vice president, enterprise solutions, Eric Lamb, added.
“With Sean’s vast experience and innovative leadership, we are primed to bring retail media to the real world, empowering retailers and brands to engage consumers where it matters most.”
Prior to working in sales leadership positions at CitrusAd and Epsilon, Cheyney spent over six years at technology, media and creative partner, Triad, where he worked in numerous vice president roles. Altogether, the retail media professional boasts more than 20 years of experience working “in driving revenue growth through both digital and traditional media channels”.
The news of Cheyney’s appointment comes weeks after Vistar announced that it was partnering with JOLT – the electric vehicle charging network – to help manage its advertising efforts within New Zealand and Australia, as well as the United Kingdom and Canada.
