Designing inherent value, behavioural insights lessons from a pioneer, and gamification workshop complete MSIX 2024 sessions

Making restaurants inherently valuable, the history and future of behavioural insights (BI) from one of its pioneers, and a hands-on gamification workshop round out the sessions for MSIX: Marketing Science Ideas Xchange 2024.

The restaurant session, ‘Designing Value into Restaurants’, will be delivered by Yen Trinh, owner of the award-winning Pottsville restaurant, Pipit Restaurant.

During her talk, Trinh is expected to touch upon the realities restaurants and their brands are facing in today’s cost-of-living crisis, unpacking why these hospitality institutions must be vigilant when showcasing and injecting value into all areas of the business – not just food.

And with that as a foundation, Trinh will share with delegates the sustainability practices, thought processes, and design systems that empower Pipit Restaurant and award it with ongoing success in uncertain times.

Delegates that attend Trinh’s talk are sure to walk away with a deeper understanding on the importance of inherent value, and how it can be incorporated into their brands and businesses… even if they don’t work in the hospitality sector.

Additionally, attendees that are eager to learn the fundamentals of behavioural insights and how to use them to change peoples’ behaviour ought to sit in on ‘A Brief History and Future of Behavioural Insights’.

The session is being delivered by Dr Alex Gyani – an original and one of the longest serving members of the Behavioural Insights Team.

As the company’s managing director for the Asia Pacific region, Dr Gyani will bring his 10+ years of experience in behavioural insights to the MSIX stage to share the past and future of BI as a discipline, on top of teaching delegates the above, to empower them to leverage BI to resolve complex issues as they arise.

The gamification workshop – ‘The Game Changer: Mastering Gamification Design’ – wraps up the MSIX catalogue.

Delivered on day two by the University of Western Sydney’s gamification and behavioural designer, researcher and speaker adjunct Fellow, Dr Kerstin Oberprieler, the workshop promises an engaging and interactive experience as participants use Dr Oberprieler’s design methodology and expert insights to gamify a real-life challenge threatening them.

With content curated by Thinkerbell’s Adam Ferrier, the conference will provide delegates with a plethora of opportunities to gather insights from leading marketing science and behavioural experts, from a session on marketing science’s future from Dr Juliette Tobias-Webb to a talk on how Sally McMullen of Two Broke Chicks successfully used audience engagement to grow her business alongside show co-host and co-founder, Alex Hourigan.
