Food and beverage brands make big moves in September: YouGov

Food and beverage brands have dominated YouGov’s Biggest Brand Movers list for the second month in a row, with Vegemite taking the crown.
The list, derived from YouGov’s brand tracker, BrandIndex, is a monthly reporting series which ranks the top 10 brands that have registered the most statistically significant month-on-month upticks in consumer perception, according to 13 key metrics.
Vegemite made gains in eight out of the 13 metrics in September, in Media and Communications (Aided Brand Awareness, Buzz), Brand Perception (General Impression, Satisfaction, Recommendation), and Purchase Funnel (Consideration, Purchase Intent, Current Customer).
“Vegemite’s recognition as Australia’s Biggest Brand Mover reflects its commitment to quality and strong consumer engagement,” said Laura Robbie, APAC CEO of YouGov.
“This achievement is highlighted by significant increases in brand awareness, perception, and purchase intent. Additionally, Bakers Delight has shown impressive growth, highlighting its strong performance among consumers.”
Australian bakery franchise, Baker’s Delight, came second, with gains in seven metrics across the three categories. Carlton Draught and Victoria Bitter followed in fourth and fifth, both also receiving seven upticks.
The Bank of Melbourne rounded out the top five for September.
Last month, food and beverage brands stormed the list with Gatorade taking the crown, followed by Up & Go and Powerade. August saw Princess Cruises come in fourth, followed by Travelodge in fifth.
Other brands that have taken the crown include CommBank, Corona, Singapore Airlines, Hisense, Budweiser, Europcar and QBE Insurance.
