My Kitchen Rules sees audience drop by 500,000 on last year’s winner announcement

Last night’s finale of My Kitchen Rules saw an unusual phenomenon with more people tuning in for the final show than the winner announcement segment of it, according to OzTam’s overnight metro ratings.

The Grand Final show on Seven from 7.30pm pulled an audience of 2.082m, down on the 2.302m who sat through last year’s finale, while the winner announcement got 2.039m, well down on last year’s 2.596m.

Two years ago the winner announcement got 2.952m viewers, up against the likes of The Voice and The Biggest Loser.

Both Channel Nine and Channel Ten ran normal programming ahead of tonight’s reality showdown, which will see new show Reno Rumble on Nine go up against Masterchef on Ten and House Rules on Seven.
