Renowned global comms leader and strategist behind prolific social media movement booked for CommsCon 2025
A celebration of bad ideas from the founder and chief executive officer of a global brand comms agency, and a fireside chat that unpacks the behind-the-scenes work that went into one of the most talked about campaigns in recent memory, make up the full program for Mumbrella’s CommsCon 2025 Conference.
The first, ‘Today’s Worst Presentation: Why Bad Ideas Are the Lifeblood of Comms’, will look into how and why bad ideas can kickstart lightbulb moments that result in innovative strategies, and why organisations that can’t accept failure will never truly grow.
Alex Myers, the CEO and founder of international comms agency – and Campaign’s Global Consultancy of the Year-winner – Manifest, is confirmed to deliver the session, using unorthodox concepts and case studies to prove his point.
Myers founded Manifest more than 10 years ago, and while the business’s headquarters is in London, it also has offices in Melbourne, Los Angeles, Stockholm, and more. Last year, The Drum named Myers as Highly Commended CEO of the Year.
With this in mind, delegates who attend his session are sure to leave with a newfound appreciation for, and all the knowledge they need, to turn less-than-impressive suggestions into highly impactful ideas that deliver results.

Meanwhile, in 2024, the 36 Months campaign set the nation, and the world, on fire with the movement calling the Albanese Government to implement a bill that will require social media companies to restrict young people under 16-years-of-age from creating accounts on their platforms.
From celebrity endorsements to prolific brands such as KitKat and Medibank lending their support, the campaign triumphed with the bill officially passing – but that’s just what played out in the media; what happened behind the scenes?
Simone Gupta – the co-founder of indie agency, Supermassive, and attention strategist for the 36 Months campaign – will be taking to the CommsCon stage to share all the details that powered the campaign and then some, such as the power the PR sector holds in protecting children; 36 Months’ earned media strategy; and what it was really like combatting social media giants.
Gupta’s session at CommsCon will be the first platform to explore the 36 Months campaign in-depth, outside of what the news cycle covered.
Delegates wanting to hear all the insights and strategies that went into an internationally recognised campaign – from an industry leader who was instrumental in its success – cannot afford to miss Gupta’s chat.

Alongside Myers and Gupta, the 2025 CommsCon conference has a schedule packed with innovative thought leaders in the PR and communications space.
Kirsty Dunn, director of communications at Tinder Australia, is gearing up to share how Tinder is garnering brand loyalty and trust despite the dating app stigmas it’s forced to wade through; Elly Hewitt, alt/shift/’s CEO and co-founder, is booked to discuss how behavioural insights can inform effective creative and PR campaigns.
Also, Uber’s ANZ communications director, Peta Fitzgerald; Airbnb’s head of communications ANZ, Sophie Onikul; and head of communications ANZ at Google, Katrin Maurer, are set to talk about how companies can be successfully localised while satisfying global plans, and more.
Mumbrella’s CommsCon 2025 will take place at Ilumina, Sydney on March 27.
