Scott Rhodie appointed Fleishman-Hillard’s VP of digital media
Scott Rhodie has been appointed by PR agency Fleishman-Hillard Sydney as vice president of digital media.
Rhodie, who co-presents the weekly Mumbrellacast – moves from PR agency House Party which he launched last year as a spin-off from digital agency HotHouse. He is also a member of Sydney’s Digital Citizens committee and the co-founder of Sydney’s weekly social media gathering #shtbox – Surry Hills Twitter Beer eXchange.
Before moving into public relations, Rhodie was a journalist for Rupert Murdoch’s flagship British tabloid The Sun and for Scotland On Sunday. In Australia he has worked for PR agencies including Zing, Pulse and Network PR.
Rhodie’s appointment is the second to that role at Fleishman-Hillard. Kylie Johnson was given the same role at the agency late last year, but was unable to relocate for personal reasons and departed after a few months.
Walter Jennings, GM of Fleishman-Hillard Sydney, said of Rhodie: “He is one of Australia’s most prominent and vocal netizens, and he has great perspectives on how to navigate in the digital world. Scott further strengthens our offering in Australia, as he joins an established global network of digital communicators.”
Rhodie said: “I am very excited about the variety of clients I have the opportunity to work with, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with my digital colleagues throughout the Fleishman-Hillard global network.”
Rhodie, who tweets @ScottRhodie, discusses his appointment in the latest edition of the Mumbrellacast:
Many congratulations Scott, all the best in your new role!
Congrats, so the next round is on you then? 😉
So what’s happening to the House Party?
Congrats Scott! you deserve it!
Thanks 🙂
Very excited about the move. Was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I couldn’t pass up.
As far as I believe House Party will continue.
Congrats Scott! 🙂
Good Work Scott! Good to hear House Party will continue. Look forward to your Mumbrellacast later
Good good. Congratluations! Today VP, tomorrow master of the universe! 🙂
Well done mate. 😉
Congrats Scottster*
So, I wont be able to angle for any more lifts to #shtbox from Crows Nest anymore? Oh well, wish you all the best. 🙂
*Trying this out, you like?
Scott,
Am sure FH are thrilled to have you. Good luck in your exciting you new role, I can’t wait to see the amazing work you do with them.
Best of luck Scott.
can anyone tell me why a simple personnel appointment is worthy of a feature length news article in Mumbrella?
Congrats Mr Rhodie – well deserved.
Congratulations maister Rhodie. A well-daiserved appointment. It is a stoatin honoor tae hae a vaice president in uir midst.
(Hope my Scottish is OK)
Well done Scott!
See you ’round the building…
Sven – it’s Friday! And given Scott strikes such a perfect pose Mumbrella had to come up with some copy to support the picture. Else it may be accused of peddling centrefolds…
editorial standards are clearly in decline
Congrats Scott!
Sven, toothpaste with your orange juice this morning? Mumbrella reports on all major industry appointments, this is newsworthy. Well played Jörn.
Congrats Rhodie, congrats!
Onya Scott!
Well done mate!
Sven, as always you’ve hit the nail on the head. However I don’t blame Mumbrella for it’s reporting, I blame us for producing nothing more interesting. The really sad part is the public sycophancy. Do it in private people.
Awesome news. Exceptionally happy for you
As I have known about this since drinks on Friday it’s no big surprise.
Congratulations mate, I hope you excel in this role.
All the best 🙂
Now time for some drinks at #shtbox!
@Ivan, you’re me hero.
Sven asks … “can anyone tell me why a simple personnel appointment is worthy of a feature length news article in Mumbrella?”
Great question, I’m so glad you asked it. 🙂
A “feature article” is worthy when timely and relevant to the audience. Sven it is obvious that YOU are not the audience that this message was designed to be shared with.
There is a fantastic old school book called “How to win friends and influence people” by Dale Carnegie that would be worth a look.
You do not score points by being “anonymous” and taking pot shots at people that are “doing” something. If you can do it better – turn up, be seen and be heard and be measured by the community. A journalist has a byline you have handled this more like a driveby, not OK. Check yourself. Turn up. Be part of the real and live opportunities for debate. If you really stand for anything then there is the right way to go about it.
With all affection. xoxo
Sven
This will change soon because it updates fairly fast but as I look at it, Mumbrella’s home page includes the appointment of thos boss of the MCN’s sales production operation in one story, and the appointment of some journalists by News Limited in another.
You may not work in PR, but we’re entitled to expect coverage when there’s a big move in our part of the world too.
I don’t know who Geofffrey Emerson is, but I do know that he knew about this appointment before it was announced. I know this because he felt the need to tell us.
Nice of him to tell us. He must be really hooked up and well informed. Now we all admire him.

Well done Scott, a deserved win.
