Solar Victoria delivers wholesome campaign via Hive Creative

Through a cute campaign developed alongside creative agency, Hive Creative, Solar Victoria is encouraging Victorians to ‘put the sun to work’ and embrace the power of solar energy.

The platform reimagines the sun as a smiling, helpful mascot who supports people to enjoy a better quality life. Its film portrays this by placing the sun in peoples’ homes to perform a range of tasks – whether that be vacuuming, turning on an air conditioner, or heating up water.

“We personified the sun to show how it’s working for you, making life easier and more enjoyable,” Hive’s chief executive officer (CEO) and founder, Wayne Murphy, explained.

“This approach wasn’t just about creativity; it was a functional decision to clearly convey the benefits of solar energy in a way that’s accessible to all Victorians.

“Landing a very simple, clear message allowed us to have some fun with the execution and develop a distinctive and ownable asset that can serve the Solar Victoria brand well into the future.”

Overall, the ‘put the sun to work’ campaign was crafted to boost the public’s awareness “of all-electric homes powered by solar” and bring more attention to Victorian Government’s energy bill assistance and rebates.

“Since 2018, we’ve helped more than 320,000 Victorian households install solar panels, batteries and energy-efficient hot water systems through the Solar Homes Program – Australia’s largest household energy program,” Solar Victoria’s CEO Stan Krpan said.

“We’re proud to partner with Hive on this campaign, encouraging Victorians to put the sun to work in their home and lower their energy bills and carbon emissions.

“With more than 30 percent of Victorian homes now saving on energy bills with rooftop solar, there’s never been a better time to make the switch.”

The platform will roll out on September 1 via print, out-of-home, BVOD, social media, Spotify, radio, SEM and digital display channels.
