SPEAK Communications and The Gifted Group sign on as agency partners for NBL

Sister agencies, SPEAK Communications and The Gifted Group, have been appointed by the National Basketball League (NBL) to serve as the body’s Australian public relations and talent agency partners, respectively, for the 24/25 season.

Together, both agencies will leverage their expertise in the creator/influencer, talent and PR fields to manage the NBL’s initiatives in those three categories. The new partnership is expected to grow basketball’s profile within Australia, particularly in terms of engagement, visibility and popularity.

Overall, the agencies are expected to accomplish this by developing and executing “compelling stories, content and experiences” that connect with fans and attract new ones.

When asked about The Gifted Group’s contribution to the partnership, its founder Edward Deal shared his excitement at the prospect of the agency being able to use its expertise to generate content that leaves a lasting impression for the NBL.

“At The Gifted Group, we pride ourselves on representing the most impactful and trailblazing talent, athletes and creators in the industry,” Deal said.

“Our partnership with the NBL presents an exciting opportunity to utilise our expertise in creator marketing to continue to expedite the rapid growth of Australian basketball.

“By leveraging our extensive network and innovation in the space, we aim to create compelling and authentic content to help the NBL shine both on and off the court.”

On the PR front, SPEAK Communications’ founder, Snezana Hay, cited her agency’s experience with sports-related movements – such as spreading the word on campaigns for performance brand Under Armour, and announcing partnerships for Basketball Australia – as a major reason for its deep understanding of the sporting sector and how fans can be effectively engaged.

“Put simply, sport is our jam,” Hay said. “Our extensive experience and connections we’ve built in this space, coupled with our passion for sports, has given us an unmatched understanding on how to engage and cultivate fans and intertwine with culture.

“We are thrilled to bring this expertise to our partnership with the NBL. The NBL has been a significant force in promoting basketball in Australia, and we’re eager to help amplify its reach and impact.

“Together, we look forward to developing MVP-worthy narratives and campaigns that will not only engage current fans but also attract new audiences to the game.”
