Tourism Fiji celebrates island’s contagious joy, via Havas Host campaign

Tourism Fiji and Havas Host have released a campaign that celebrates the island nation’s undeniable ability to paste a smile onto peoples’ faces.
The tourism body’s ‘Happy Passports’ campaign serves as the next phase of its ‘Where Happiness Comes Naturally’ platform, and introduces audiences to Fijian customs officer, Ana, and passport photographer, Viliame, who reflect on how it’s next to impossible for one to appear down when they’re in Fiji.
Both Viliame and Ana star in their own 15-second films, with each showing them at work while interacting with locals and tourists and speaking on the smiling phenomenon.
“It’s well known that everybody hates their passport photos as we’re all made to look sombre and serious which is the complete opposite to how you’ll feel when you leave Fiji,” commented Havas Host’s executive creative director, Sebastian Vizor.
“After just a few days in Fiji amongst the warmth of the people, the rich cultural or the incredible landscape, we noticed people found it almost impossible not to be happy.”
Entering the market this week, ‘Happy Passports’ slots into Tourism Fiji’s global media strategy, encompassing social media, cinema, out-of-home advertising, audio, BVOD and OLV platforms. Its goal is to increase audience visits to the tourism organisation’s website and raise awareness of the different activities and experiences visitors can undertake.
“Fiji’s warmth and playfulness is infectious – it’s a feeling that visitors often say stays with them after they leave,” added Srishti Narayan, chief marketing officer at Tourism Fiji.
“Where Happiness Comes Naturally has performed exceptionally well for us globally and with the next iteration, we wanted to celebrate the playful, cheeky side of Fijian culture that leaves travellers feeling lighter and more joyful.
“It’s a fun reminder that Fiji isn’t just about the stunning scenery—it’s about the joy and warmth you feel from our people and traditions, and the authentic experiences you can have here. We hope it inspires travellers from around the world to come and experience it for themselves.”
