Strongbow relaunches with new branding from The Collective
Cider brand Strongbow has relaunched this month with fresh new branding, aimed to “bring to life Strongbow’s essence of relaxed simplicity”.
The new packaging features a wood-cut style tree illustration, with the label featuring a printed wood grain finish “to reinforce the cider’s origins in the orchard”.
General manager of cider for Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), Craig MacLean said in a statement: “Cider remains the fastest growing alcohol category in Australia with people choosing to drink cider more often, particularly over the warmer months and we’ve got to keep up with the changing trends in this category.
Poor old Strongbow – they have the cider market to themselves for 40 years without a single competitor. Bloody hipsters go and make the drink “fashionable” and suddenly you’ve got 100s of upstarts flooding the market and what was 100% yours, you can no longer compete. I’m not sure a new label is going to much change things either.
Did they just look at the Adelaide Hills Cider Company packaging and adapt slightly? Bit too similar but not quite as classy as AHCC.
I grew up with Strongbow. Merrydown also… ‘K’ as well…
I think the re-brand looks good. I can see why they have done it. Shelf space is key too.
You watch sales go up.
